Prescription for Corrective Lenses for Children

Myopia (Near-sightedness):

Myopia is a vision condition where distant objects appear blurry while close-up vision remains clear. It happens when the eyeball is longer than usual or when the cornea is overly curved. As a result, light rays focus in front of the retina rather than directly on it, leading to difficulty seeing things at a distance.

Hyperopia (Farsightedness):

Hyperopia affects near vision more than distant vision. It occurs when the eyeball is shorter than normal or when the cornea has insufficient curvature. Light focuses behind the retina, causing nearby objects to appear blurry while distant objects may remain clearer.

Astigmatism:

Astigmatism is a vision condition caused by an irregularly shaped cornea or lens. This irregularity results in distorted vision at various distances. Both near and far objects can appear blurry or wavy due to the unequal bending of light rays entering the eye.

Child Squint Treatment in Mumbai

Strabismus, commonly known as squint, refers to a condition where the eyes do not align in the same direction. This misalignment causes one eye to focus on an object while the other looks elsewhere, sometimes inward, outward, upward, or downward. Often, squints develop before the age of three, although they can occur in older children

Causes of Squint: Unveiling Reasons

Congenital Squint: Present at birth or within the first six months of life, this type of squint arises due to imbalanced eye muscle actions. The exact cause remains unknown, with one eye typically turning inwards, termed as congenital esotropia or infantile esotropia.

Refractive Errors: Conditions like near-sightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism cause focusing difficulties. When a child tries to focus, one eye might turn, leaving the other eye to take over vision. Such squints usually emerge in children aged two or older, particularly those with farsightedness.

Associated Conditions: In some cases, squints occur due to genetic or brain-related conditions like cerebral palsy, Down’s syndrome, and retinoblastoma, among others.
